"Die unbefleckte Empfängnis"
During the pandemic, I accompanied East Frisian cow inseminator Rolf Bleeker for a whole day: From the morning correspondence with farmers who report on their pregnant cows, over the insemination itself, to the pregnancy examination with ultrasound. Nearly 15 farms were covered that day. In addition, I documented various working methods and tools, from cooling the semen with nitrogen to introducing the semen with the help of a so-called sequin, a rod that is hollow on the inside and carries the semen. A highlight: the bulls' names: 'Big Boy,' 'Moonshine,' 'Jeronimo,' 'Picasso,' 'Hocus Pocus' or 'Big Madness'. The reportage was published at VOST magazine and on VOST Social Media.
